Critique Group Hub

Welcome to the LA/MS Critique Group hub!

What is a critique group?

A critique group is a team of writers or illustrators (or both!) who provide constructive criticism of each other’s work in progress. Often a group focuses on a particular reading level, art media, or genre, but not always. Some groups meet online, others face-to-face. Some meet weekly, others monthly. The details are up to the group.

Who seeks a critique?

Writers and illustrators who are serious about their work and earnestly want to make it better.

Writers and illustrators who are open to receiving constructive feedback as well as dedicated to giving it.

Writers and illustrators who are focused on children’s literature. Creators of other genres can provide general help, but only children’s writers and illustrators can understand and advise on the unique requirements of creating for children.

Looking for a group?

Jackson, MS and New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette, LA have open critiques as part of their monthly meetups. (See our Events Calendar for dates and locations.)
