Each cottage has 8 rooms with 2 beds per room. Each room has a private bathroom. All cottages have a full kitchen, a fireplace, and a back patio overlooking Gray Center Lake. All Cottages have their own WiFi capabilities. Rooms at the nearby Inn also overlook the Lake and have 2 beds per room with a private bathroom.

The room allotment will be first come, first served. Please note, all reservations will be taken “pending approval.” We will allot rooms as they are approved, filling first Cottage #1, then Cottage #2 (if a second is available), and then the Inn. If you are sharing a room, you must make arrangements with your roommate ahead of time. After registration, each registrant should email with the name of your roommate. Only when both registrants have emailed us will the registration be approved. Since the rooms will be allotted in the order they are approved, you should both plan to register at the same time, with an immediate email confirming roommate status to us. Should you want to register for double occupancy but have no roommate in mind, please email and we will match you up with another attendee in your position. If no matches are available, you will be required to select single occupancy.

The option of offsite written critiques by the editor or editors chosen by each registrant are separately priced and must be selected when you register. These will also be first come, first served, maximum two. The deadline for emailing the material (20 pages and 250-word synopsis for MG and YA; full text or dummy for picture book) will be 7 pm on August 24, 2017. The submissions should be in .doc, .docx or .pdf format. Email to with the following in the subject line: Editor Last Name/Your Last Name. The feedback will be distributed at the Retreat.

Our working sessions will be held in the Gray Center Meeting Rooms. The main focus of the working sessions will be assimilation of the editor feedback and brainstorming ideas for moving forward. However, critique feedback is private and is shared by permission only.

Meals are typical Southern home-style with vegetarian options. The cottage kitchens will be available for more specialized dietary needs.
