2018 Big Chill Retreat in Canton, MS

Date(s) - 10/12/2018 - 10/14/2018
12:00 am

Duncan Gray Center
1530 Way Road - Canton, MS 39046

Big Chill is a retreat for creators of children’s books — both writers and illustrators. Make time to write and create among supportive colleagues in a bucolic setting. Distance critiques by editors and a senior designer will be offered before the retreat.

As you register, you will choose a group (based on whether your critique submission — or work in progress — is for Middle Grade, Young Adult, or is a Picture Book). Group members will have access to other members’ work before the retreat so they also may offer meaningful feedback. Read instructions here.

Big Chill begins late-afternoon on Friday, Oct. 12, and runs until lunchtime Sunday on Oct 14. *Day passes are now available due to robust demand. The selections below are for Saturday only. Email us to add Friday/Sunday options and we will send you the amounts for that.

You will receive your critique(s) at check-in and spend the weekend considering ways to revise your current project and contemplate what’s next. Illustrators will also have the opportunity (for an additional fee) to attend an Intensive Workshop on storyboarding led by Chuck Galey.
