So … you have a story and want to get it published? Or, you want to learn how others got their stories and/or illustrations published? Or, you like gathering in the company of colleagues to share insights and wisdom into the fascinating world of children’s books?

We offer something for everyone – writers and illustrators, beginners, pre-published, and published.

FACULTY:
• Mallory Kass, Senior Editor at Scholastic, and author (as Kass Morgan) of The 100 Series
• Alexandra Penfold, agent at Upstart Crow Literary, and author of Eat, Sleep, Poop and The Littlest Viking (release 1/2/18)
• Linda Williams Jackson, author of Midnight Without a Moon and A Sky Full of Stars (release 1/2/18)
• Leslie Staub, author of Golden Kite Honor for Picture Book Text Time for (Earth) School Dewey, Dew; illustrator of, among others, Mama’s Nightingale, a 2016 Jane Addams Peace Association Book Award honor book, and author of upcoming Bedtime for Beasties and Shine, Baby, Shine
• Kenny Harrison, illustrator of the Hide & Seek Harry board book series and part of The Times Picayune’s 1997 and 2006 Pulitzer Prize winning teams, each receiving the Gold Medal for Public Service

Additional critique faculty include Editor-in-Chief Nina Kooij with Pelican Publishing Company; freelance editor Catherine Frank; and award-winning nonfiction author Sarah C. Campbell.

Friday, March 16 ~ Writing MasterClass by Mallory Kass in the Hospitality Room of The Garden District Hampton Inn at 2:30 p.m.
(Optional $50; space is limited.)

Friday, March 16 ~ Illustrator MasterClass by Kenny Harrison at a French Quarter condo at 2:30 p.m. (Optional $50; space is limited. Transportation from the Hampton Inn to be provided, departs 1:45 p.m.)

Friday, March 16 Icebreaker ~ Kidlit Drink Night Meetup at The Columns Hotel at 5:00 p.m. Cash bar.

Saturday, March 17 JambaLAya Kidlit Conference ~ Academy of Sacred Heart Rosary Campus general registration at 8:00 a.m.

Saturday, March 17 Conference Dinner ~ at Superior Seafood & Oyster Bar, immediately following the conference.
